Access information

three people who look like they're having a funny conversation the Rising office, sitting around a table with snacks and laptops. Behind them are 2 posters that say "To care for you is to care for me", and "Work won't love you back".

9 BATH BUILDINGS Access:

  • The entrance, kitchen and toilets are all level access. There is a small step into our studio which we have a ramp for.

  • You have to walk or roll past a line of cars to get to the studio, they try to leave enough space for access but if not let one of the team know and we can ask them to move.

  • There are gender neutral and accessible toilets in the building.

  • There is a shared kitchen and open space where you may see other members of the studios, but our studio is a separate space.

Access needs:

  • Our studio is somewhere we want everyone to feel welcome and their identity celebrated.

  • If you have any access needs and/or an access rider you’d like to share with the team before a meeting please do – pronouns, mask wearing preferences and sitting or standing however you want all come as standard.

what to expect in specific situations:

    • We will agree in advance whether to meet in person or online

    • Please let us know if you prefer someone else to take notes for you or to take them yourself

    • We’re happy to meet somewhere convenient for both of us, this will often be our studio but could be a cafe, the central library or in the warmer months outside!

    • If you’re meeting a team member in person for the first time you can see our photos here and we’ll usually share a phone number to contact if you’re late, lost or can’t find us.

    • We will send some information over beforehand so you know what to expect, we never want anyone to feel put on the spot

    • The vibe is that everyone has something interesting to say and we will facilitate to allow that without disrespecting the start and end of the session

    • We will provide refreshments appropriate to the time of day and length of event (eg food for evening labs, biscuits for afternoon etc.)

    • We know these can be sources of anxiety for people, particularly if you don’t know many people yet

    • If it doubt look for a member of the team, they’re always down to make conversation and help you ease into a new space

    • We will always aim to have a separate quiet space so that we can cater for our introverts, extroverts and everyone in between!
