We know it’s hard navigating a broken system where you have to fight to carve out space for yourself and a successful creative practice. As underrepresented creatives, we know it can feel lonely.
We exist as an agency, not to gate-keep but because we know there’s strength in numbers. That's why, together, we do the work of creating and finding meaningful opportunities you might not get on your own and we’re intentional about creating spaces where we can challenge the harmful demands of the wider sector.

What’s the rising offer?
Being a part of the Rising community means many things. Here are the things that we offer you:
Access to creative opportunities, both from Rising / their clients and general opps around the city shared in our exclusive newsletter.
Opportunities for free training, including things like leadership, facilitation and money management.
Rest Fees! (Getting paid to rest)
All of our opportunities are paid at Real Living Wage or higher.
Access to the Community Whatsapp group and a network of peers, just like you.
1:1 check-ins and regular support.
Advocacy for you in your creative work.
Opportunities to be socially engaged and help us make a meaningful impact around the city.

Rising is committed to reaching people who don’t usually get opportunities like this. We respect where you’re at in your practice, but we ask that you:
Are under 30.
Are Bristol based - we currently only support artists who live in Bristol!
Are underrepresented in the sector.
Have something creative to show us.
we are especially excited to welcome people who*:
Are socially engaged and show up for social injustices.
Are under 21.
Are from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Have been or are in the care system.
Grew up in Bristol (didn’t move here for uni).
Belong to the Gypsy / Roma / Traveller community.
Are from another marginalised group and feel underrepresented in the sector.
*This is to make sure that our community remains made up of people who’re currently underrepresented in the sector.
how do i apply? 🤨
For myself:
Step 1: Make sure you have read the Rising Offer, who is eligible, and any other information you might need from our website.
Step 2: Go to the Typeform. Make sure you click ‘Myself’ when we ask you who you’re applying for.
The first 11 questions are short questions about who you are. Answer these in the typeform.
Step 3: Look through the next 5 questions - either on the Typeform or in the easy read document here.
Step 4: On the Typeform, choose whether you’d like to apply with a document or video. You can also book a video call with Ellayah if your access needs don’t mesh with the other options.
Step 5: Upload your document or video to a platform that gives you a url (eg youtube, GDrive) and enter it when the form asks you to. Do not use Wetransfer as the link might expire before we get to see it.
Step 6: Don’t forget to submit!
for someone else:
Step 1: Make sure you have read the Rising Offer, who is eligible, and any other information you might need from our website.
Step 2: Go to the Typeform. Make sure you select ‘For someone else’ when we ask you who you’re applying for.
Step 3: Fill out the typeform.
Step 4: We might contact you to further discuss the application, or chat about the person you’re applying for.
Step 5: Don’t forget to submit!
